It’s a New Day At Camp Harris . . . You will be seeing this phrase over and over again for the next few weeks. Camp Harris is looking forward to helping our churches step into a renewed experience with the Lord. In order to do this we need to make some major renovations to our camp. The cost of those major renovations will be north of $600,000. The Camp Harris Board is requesting your help to make this possible. What can you do? You can lead your church to designate 1% of your undesignated receipts to the Camp Harris Building Fund “It’s a New Day at Camp Harris” for the next 3 years.
To put this in perspective… If for the next three years …
9 churches would give $10,800 each, $3600 a year, 300 a month, we
would raise $97,200
8 churches would give $8,400 each, $2800 a
year, $233 a month, we would raise $67,200
7 churches would give
$6,000 each, $2000 a year, $165 a month, would raise $42,000
13
churches would give $3,600 each, $1200 a year, $100 a month, would
raise $46,800
15 churches would give $1,800 each, $600 a year,
$50 a month, would raise $27,000
The total over three years of
giving would be $280,200. Our portion added to the churches in
Concord Union Association would be around $600,000.
Please read the attached link to the Camp Harris Board letter outlining our needs and the possibility of raising the funds. Together we can do this with 1% or higher of your undesignated funds. Individuals can give, churches can give, businesses or organizations can give. Together we can give and build for a new day. Call me if you would like me to come talk with your church or finance committee.

Bienville & Webster-Claiborne Baptist Associations’
It’s a
New Day at Camp Harris,
Goals vs Actual
Goal $300,000
Given to Date: $58,783.
Praise the Lord, several churches have already committed to give to the “It’s a New Day at Camp Harris” Building Fund. Thank you!
We received a challenge gift from Bistineau Baptist Church for $50,000! Pastor Richard Methvin told me when he heard about the need, his heart was moved to challenge his church to give in a big way! They definitely gave big! Bistineau wants to challenge every church to give sacrificially to our camp. They believe lives will be changed for Christ through Camp Harris.
We also received early gifts from Pine Grove, FBC Castor, New Ebenezer, and New Ramah from Bienville Association and Central, Beech Springs, Ronald Prince Sunday School Class at FBC Minden, and Rocky Springs from Webster-Claiborne Association totaling $8783. That brings us to $58,783. We have also heard from other churches that are meeting to discuss their gifts. Some will give one time gifts, some will be giving monthly. Our goal over three years is to raise $300,000 from the Bienville and Webster-Claiborne Baptist Associational churches. We have also received some gifts in memory of Shawn Kaffka from individuals.
Remember when you give, write on the memo line, “It’s a New Day at Camp Harris”. You can give through your association or direct to Camp Harris. You can make checks out to and mail to Bienville Baptist Association or to Webster-Claiborne Baptist Association at PO Box 1099, Minden, LA 71058-1099. Both associational executive boards met Monday to hear reports and enjoy fellowship and prayer. We voted to give $5000 toward the new roof at the Camp Harris New Life Center. Please read the article below and consider helping us at Camp Harris.
“It’s a New Day At Camp Harris”
At the Harris Board Meeting August 11, we elected the search committee to begin the process of selecting a new director. We covet your prayers for the Harris leaders as we begin this important process.
We reviewed our building renovations and our New Life Center Building Fund at our board meeting. Our combined goal, Concord Union Baptist Association and our area consisting of Bienville and Webster-Claiborne Baptist Associations, is to raise $600,000. Our portion of that goal is $300,000. To date we have received $171,000 from all sources to the It’s a New Day Fund. We have paid out $103,000 on the first installment on the $200,000 (plus) roof. We have $68,000 remaining in the New Life Fund. We have a $50,000 loan approved with Gibsland bank. The roof should be finished over the next few weeks.
I encourage every church in Bienville and Webster-Claiborne to consider our 1% challenge. If every church would give 1% of your budget to our project each year for 3 years, we would easily meet our $300,000 goal. Today about a 1/3 of our combined churches have committed to give. Many gave the full amount up front rather than monthly. As a result we have raised about 1/3 of what we need to do all the renovations planned. We need you and your church to give generously. This is your camp. Would you please consider putting the Harris Baptist Camp New Life Center Fund in your budget or ask your members to periodically give through special offerings? We need every church in Bienville and Webster-Claiborne to give. Would you talk to your leadership about joining the other churches already giving to help us reach our goal?
